I like the way you think darkwood.
I loved your comment on the CA Mayor's watermelon email: "Obama is not sacrosanct nor is he above criticism, but the fact that we have a black president does not mean that its open season for every racist stereotype to be trotted out for the entertainment of a ever diminishing audience of open and closet bigots. The Mayor's action was in terrible taste and he should be congratulated that he recognized that he will be seen as something of a bonehead from now on and it was appropriate that he resigned."
You made some excellent comments, Darkwood ("issue is that this bus driver went above and beyond his job"). We see it so often today...no one wants to get involved - even in helping a couple of elderly persons. Then, when someone does, he or she is subject to criticism...in this case, a citation. Trivial, though it was, it represents poor judgment on the part of the officer.
Someone earlier mentioned the obvious absence of common sense...maybe it's worse than that...maybe it's the total absence of compassion and empathy. Law enforcement needs to work on those two emotions along with the diligence of following the law. Maybe this will be an eye-opener in Colorado and, hopefully, all other states where this is too common an occurrence.
I wonder, do we need to add those little red flags on our public buses so often seen on school buses to be sure approaching drivers are aware of stopped vehicles? Maybe the answer is in better-placed crosswalks?

It was NOT supply-side economics which led to the lending debacle. The Senate Financial Committee changed legislation to allow financial markets to lend to people without conducting an accurate check on their ability to pay back the loan. The Democratic senator, Dodd, related that the changes would allow "those left behind to share in the American Dream of homeownership." His belief was that as houses increased in value, borrowers could refinance and pay down the debt to a manageable level. When he discovered he was wrong, Democrats related the problems were due to the Republicans breaking down oversite of financial institutions. Another error - this time in fact, not in judgement.
